Pre-order & Interest Terms

The website offers two separate paths: request a manual refundable-deposit invoice to pre-order a Tracker, or join the free interest list without reserving anything. No card details or payment are collected on the website. These terms explain both paths plainly, including refunds.

01Preorder and interest are different

A preorder request asks me to send you a manual invoice for the bundle and deposit shown on the form. Submitting the form alone does not reserve a unit. Your reservation is counted after the deposit is received and the written terms are confirmed.

Registering interest tells me who needs a tracker, for which sport and spot, and how many. It is free, takes no payment, commits neither side to anything, and does not reserve a unit or create a queue position.

Your details are used only to handle your SmartSurf request, contact you, and plan production. They are never sold. You can ask me to delete them at any time.

02Price & payment (if you choose to buy)

• The preorder price is US $299 per Tracker. The exact bundle total and deposit are shown on the form and confirmed in writing before payment.
• A reservation uses a 50% deposit of US $149.50 per Tracker. The website requests the invoice; it does not collect the deposit or any card details.
• The balance (if a deposit was paid) is due before your unit enters final assembly, at the price confirmed at order time. Your confirmed price will not increase after your order is accepted.
• Payment methods, currency, and any transaction fees are stated in your written order confirmation.

03Refund policy

• Before production: full refund of your deposit and any amount paid, no questions asked. "Production" means the point at which components for your specific unit are committed and assembly begins.
• After production begins: because units are built to order in small batches, the deposit covers committed parts and build time and may become non-refundable. You will always be told, in writing and in advance, before your unit enters production, so you can cancel first if you wish.
• On delivery: if a delivered unit is dead-on-arrival or does not match the agreed specification, it is repaired or replaced at no cost, or fully refunded, at your choice.
• Refunds are issued to the original payment method within a reasonable period after the request is confirmed.

04Delivery & timelines

• Because these are hand-built small batches, you receive an honest build window, not a fixed marketing date. We do not make hard shipping promises until components and assembly capacity for your batch are confirmed.
• If a timeline slips, you are told promptly and may cancel for a full refund if your unit has not yet entered production.
• Shipping method, destination restrictions, import duties, and taxes are the buyer's responsibility unless stated otherwise in writing. Lithium-battery shipping follows applicable transport rules.

05Connectivity

The Tracker uses an embedded IoT SIM (1NCE) providing cellular connectivity on the terms of that provider (a lifetime plan of approximately US $15 for 10 years across 150+ countries, subject to fair-use and the provider's data allowances). Coverage depends on local cellular networks and is not guaranteed at every location. Connectivity terms may be updated as provider terms change.

06Warranty

Each unit is individually tested before it ships. Early small-batch units carry a limited founder warranty against manufacturing and sealing defects for the period stated in your order confirmation. The warranty does not cover impact damage, loss, misuse, unauthorised opening, or normal battery wear. Specific warranty length and terms are provided in writing with your order.

07Safety disclaimer

SmartSurf helps you locate equipment and people and understand conditions. It cannot guarantee rescue, prevent accidents, or function where there is no power, signal, or GPS. You remain responsible for your own safety, your training, your equipment, and following local rules and conditions. SmartSurf and its founder are not liable for loss, injury, or damage arising from use or reliance on the device beyond the refund and warranty remedies stated here.

08Data & privacy

The Tracker and platform process location and session data to provide their function. Location sharing with schools, trusted contacts, or a safety network is opt-in and controlled by you. Data handling follows the SmartSurf Privacy Policy, provided before platform use. Emergency-contact and student data is handled with appropriate care and shared only as you direct or as required for an active safety escalation.

09Changes & contact

These terms may be updated for future batches; the version agreed in your written order confirmation governs your order. Questions before you commit are welcome — that is exactly what the direct preorder conversation is for.
